Meraki Counseling
Elizabeth Denkins, MA, LPC
Supporting your journey to healing and peace through trusted therapy methods.
Service Areas
I help adults work through trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and long-standing emotional patterns that keep them stuck. My work is grounded in EMDR and Internal Family Systems, two approaches that support real, lasting healing. If you want therapy that goes deeper than coping skills, you are in the right place.
TRAUMA
I specialize in helping individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences using EMDR therapy, which promotes rapid, natural processing of distressing memories. Incorporating IFS, I focus on identifying and harmonizing different parts of you to support lasting recovery.
PTSD
For those managing post-traumatic stress disorder, I utilize EMDR to target and diminish PTSD symptoms effectively. I also integrate IFS to access and nurture your Self, fostering stability and resilience in your healing journey.
PHOBIAS
I help clients confront and reduce fears using EMDR to target the root of phobias efficiently. IFS supports this process by exploring and integrating the parts that hold and protect these fears, ultimately enhancing confidence and freedom from avoidance.
ANXIETY
I help clients manage anxiety by combining EMDR’s rapid processing techniques with IFS strategies that explore and understand the protective parts, allowing you to access your core Self and develop healthier responses.
DEPRESSION
Using EMDR, I work to reframe negative beliefs and traumatic memories associated with depression. IFS techniques help uncover and work with the parts contributing to feelings of hopelessness, guiding you toward internal harmony and hope.
RELATIONSHIPS
I work with individuals using IFS and psychoeducation to improve communication and address underlying emotional patterns. By exploring and integrating the various parts of yourself, you can gain greater understanding and foster healthier, more connected relationships.
Clear, Structured Sessions
Each session has direction, purpose, and a focus on your goals.

My Path
Becoming a Trauma Therapist
I started in mental health more than a decade ago and quickly learned how deeply trauma shapes the way people think, act, and relate. My early work in residential treatment, hospitals, group homes, and behavioral health programs showed me the real weight people carry. After completing my Master’s in Counseling, I pursued the training and clinical experience required to become an LPC and later earned certification in EMDR. My education and my years in the field made something very clear. People are not damaged. They are responding to experiences that overwhelmed their system. Therapy gives them the chance to process those experiences and reconnect with the parts of themselves that survived.

What Drives My Approach
Internal Family Systems shifted everything for me. It taught me that every behavior, even the ones that look destructive, is an attempt to protect or manage pain. When clients understand the purpose behind their internal reactions, they stop fighting themselves and start healing. IFS also teaches that each person has a core Self that is calm, capable, and compassionate. My work focuses on helping clients access that Self so they can move forward with more clarity and strength. I do this work because I believe healing is possible for anyone with the right support.
Healing becomes possible when you understand your story, your patterns, and the parts of you that have been trying to protect you.
A Therapy Experience Built Around You
Your story matters. The ways you react, shut down, avoid, or push through all came from somewhere. Therapy helps you understand those patterns and process what created them in the first place. With EMDR, we work directly with your nervous system to release the old memories that continue to drive your reactions. With IFS, we explore the parts of you that formed to protect you and help them step into healthier roles. The goal is not perfection. It is stability, connection, and the ability to trust yourself again.
